How to Run a GTA 6 Launch Marathon (Kick/Twitch)

Ignacio Silvera@silvernuy

A practical step-by-step guide to running a GTA 6 launch marathon: extendable timer, time rules, goals, OBS widgets, multistreaming, regional timing and a plan B for delays.

According to Rockstar's announcement on its Newswire, GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you plan to stream that week, this is the practical guide to setting up a marathon with an extendable timer on Kick or Twitch, so nothing is improvised on launch night. If you are still looking for what to put inside the stream, start with our goal and reward ideas for the launch marathon; this guide is about the how.

Why run a launch marathon (and why start at pre-load)

A launch like this concentrates a lot of viewers into a short window, and those viewers are looking for streams. A marathon with a timer gives them a reason to stay and a reason to contribute: every sub or donation is stream time, and it shows on screen.

Pre-load opens on November 12, 2026, a week earlier. That gives you a natural window for a waiting marathon: kick off that week with a timer that keeps growing and reach launch day with a warmed-up community and the clock still running. You don't need seven days straight on air. You can chain long sessions on the key days, or do one long block the night before. What changes is that on November 19, 2026 you are not starting from zero.

Step by step with TriBathon

1. Connect your platforms

Create your TriBathon account and connect Twitch and Kick (plus YouTube, StreamElements or Streamlabs if donations come through them). Do it days ahead: you don't want to find out on launch night that a permission expired.

2. Set the starting duration

From the dashboard you can set the timer's time manually. Our recommendation for this case:

  • 24 hours if it is your first marathon or your channel is small.
  • 48 hours if you have run long streams before and your community shows up.
  • 12 hours if you only plan the launch night itself.

It is a starting point, not a promise. Announcing less and extending with contributions works better than announcing a lot and cutting it short. There is more reasoning in our guide to 24 and 48 hour marathons.

3. Decide how much each event adds

In the configuration you choose, per platform, how much time each event type adds: subs (by tier on Twitch), bits, kicks on Kick, donations and more. A reasonable starting point that you should tune to your audience:

  • Sub: roughly 5 to 10 minutes. It is your main event, so make it the most visible one.
  • Bits and kicks: a small amount per block of 100, so anyone can add time.
  • Donations: proportional to the amount, with a clear minimum.

There is also a Happy Hour multiplier you can switch on from the dashboard whenever you like: use it in the first hour or when chat cools down. Post the rules in a panel or a pinned message; if chat has to ask how much each thing adds, you lose participation. If you are unsure about the numbers, see the optimal times and multipliers setup.

4. Create your goals

TriBathon goals can be based on total subs, subs on one platform, bits, kicks, donations or a mix. A typical setup for this marathon:

  • Every X subs, +1 guaranteed hour (or an on-screen challenge).
  • Content milestones: at a given number you switch activity, or chat picks a mission.
  • A closing goal announced when a couple of hours remain, so the ending has some tension.

Match the numbers to your real average support: a goal your audience can't reach doesn't motivate anyone. More ideas in milestone ideas.

5. Add the widgets to OBS

The widgets section gives you URLs for the timer and the goals. Add them in OBS as browser sources and they update live. The timer widget is free; the goals widget is Premium (you can still create goals and announce them in chat). Test each one by simulating an event from the dashboard, and place them where they won't fight the game's HUD, which already takes a lot of room in an open-world game.

6. Multistream on Twitch and Kick

Streaming on both at once multiplies your reach, and because the timer adds events from both, nobody gets penalized for where they support you. If you haven't built that flow yet, follow our guide to multistreaming on Twitch, Kick and YouTube. Each platform has its own rules about simultaneous streaming, so read them first.

Run a full rehearsal before November 12, 2026

Do a test stream with the timer, goals and full scene a few days ahead. Long marathons fail more often because of the setup than the content. Also go through the gear checklist.

Timing: when to start depending on your region

There is no announced release time we can verify, so we won't make one up. Digital launches are often unlocked at local midnight, but for this game check the exact time in your console store and in Rockstar's official communications. With that settled, a few planning notes:

  • Spain and Europe: if the unlock were at local midnight, it would be an overnight stream in the middle of the week (November 19, 2026 is a Thursday). Think about viewers who work or study the next day: start in the evening and expect the biggest audience in the first hours.
  • Latin America: time zones vary a lot. If your audience is spread out, announce your start time in several zones so nobody gets confused.
  • United States: if the unlock is at local midnight, it arrives earlier on the East Coast than on the West Coast. If you serve both, consider keeping the timer running to cover both.

Either way, post your stream's start time in your community's time zone and pin it in chat. You can lean on the GTA 6 countdown, which targets midnight in each visitor's local time.

What to do if Rockstar delays the date

The date has moved before, so it pays to have a plan B from the start:

  • Announce the format, not only the day. "GTA 6 waiting marathon" survives a date change; "marathon on November 19, 2026" does not.
  • If the delay comes with notice, move the event to the new date and promote it at the same pace you would have used originally.
  • If it lands while the timer is already running, turn the marathon into a stream of the series or other open-world games and keep your goals. The timer and goals don't depend on the game.
  • Don't promise prizes tied to the date. If you give something away, base it on participation, not on the launch.

Final checklist

  • Platforms connected and tested (Twitch, Kick and whichever you use for donations).
  • Starting duration decided and time rules posted.
  • Goals created with realistic numbers, including a closing one.
  • Timer widget in OBS (plus the goals widget if you have Premium), tested with simulated events.
  • Start time announced in your community's time zone.
  • Rest plan declared up front.
  • Plan B in case the date changes.
  • Gear checked: connection, storage, water and food.

Frequently asked questions

What starting duration should I set on the timer?

24 to 48 hours if you want to cover the wait and the launch back to back, or 12 to 24 if you only plan the launch night. Start shorter than you think: contributions will extend the clock, and extending feels better than cutting.

Can I run it on Twitch and Kick at the same time?

Yes. TriBathon connects to both platforms and adds events from each to the same timer, so time grows no matter where the support comes from.

What if Rockstar delays the game again?

If yours is a waiting marathon, you can keep it going with a different theme or move it to the new date. The key is not to tie the whole promise to the exact day: announce the format and treat the date as something that can change.

What time can I start playing on launch night?

There is no announced release time we can verify, so we won't give you one. Check your console store and Rockstar's official communications for the unlock time in your region, and plan with a buffer.

Do I need to pay to set it up?

Not for the basics: creating an account, connecting your platforms, setting up goals and running the timer widget in OBS are free. Showing goals live with their OBS widget is Premium.

About the author

Ignacio Silvera@silvernuy
Ignacio started out as a multi-platform viewer and kept noticing the same complaint from streamers: subathon timers only worked well on one platform. If you streamed on Twitch and Kick at once, or moved between platforms, you had to run separate bots and reconcile two timers by hand — or just leave one platform's events uncounted. TriBathon was built to fix exactly that: one timer that adds up subs, gifts, bits and donations across every platform at once, instead of forcing you to pick one.
