Kick Subathon Timer Setup: Complete Guide 2026
How to set up a subathon timer on Kick from scratch: connect TriBathon, add the widget to OBS, configure subs and kicks, and go live in under 10 minutes.
What is a Subathon Timer for Kick?
A Kick subathon timer is a visual countdown that extends automatically every time someone on your channel subscribes, gifts subs, or sends kicks. Unlike a regular stream, broadcast time depends directly on your audience's activity: if no one interacts, the timer reaches zero and the stream ends.
Kick has a key advantage for subathons: 95% of each subscription goes to the creator (vs 50% on Twitch), making Kick subathons especially profitable.
⚡ Why use TriBathon for your Kick timer?
TriBathon is a professional subathon timer that connects directly to Kick via OAuth. It processes Kick events in real time without third-party extensions or OBS scripts. Full setup takes under 10 minutes.
Step 1: Create Your TriBathon Account
Go to tribathon.live and create your account. You can sign up with Google. Once inside, you'll land on the Configuration Panel.
Step 2: Connect Your Kick Channel
In the configuration panel, go to the Platforms tab and click "Connect Kick". Kick's OAuth authorization flow will open:
- Log in to your Kick account if you're not already
- Authorize TriBathon to read events from your channel (subs, kicks, follows)
- You'll be redirected back to TriBathon with the connection active
- You'll see the green "Kick connected" indicator in the panel
✅ Verifying the connection
Once connected, the panel shows your Kick username and connection status. If you see the green indicator, you're ready for the next step.
Step 3: Configure Time Per Event
Go to the Timer Configuration section and adjust the time added by each type of Kick event:
- New subscription: Time added per new sub. Recommended: 5 minutes (300 seconds).
- Gifted subscription: Same as regular subs, or slightly more to incentivize gifting. Recommended: 5 minutes per gifted sub.
- Kicks: Time added per 100 kicks. Recommended: 60-120 seconds per 100 kicks.
- Follows: Optional. If enabled, recommended: 30-60 seconds per follow.
📊 How much time should you configure?
It depends on your audience and target duration. For a 48-72 hour subathon, use more conservative times (3-5 min/sub). For a shorter 24-hour one, you can be more generous (5-8 min/sub). Check our optimal configuration guide for data based on 500+ real subathons.
Step 4: Set the Starting Time
Before going live, set the timer's starting time:
- Recommended starting time: 1-2 hours. Enough for the stream to start but giving the audience the sense that they need to act to keep it alive.
- Maximum time: You can set a maximum cap (e.g., 48 hours) so the timer doesn't grow indefinitely.
Step 5: Add the Widget to OBS
The TriBathon timer is displayed in your stream through a Browser Source in OBS:
- In TriBathon, go to Widgets → Timer Widget
- Copy the widget URL
- In OBS, in your main scene, add a new source: Browser Source
- Paste the URL in the corresponding field
- Set the size: 400px wide × 200px tall (adjust to your layout)
- Enable the option "Refresh browser when scene becomes active"
- Click OK and position the widget in your scene
🎨 Customizing the timer appearance
From the TriBathon panel you can customize colors, font, and widget style to match your stream design. Changes are reflected in real time in OBS without needing to restart the source.
Step 6: Test Before Going Live
Before your subathon, run a full test:
- Start OBS with your configured scene and verify the timer is visible
- From the TriBathon panel, use the "Simulate Event" button to generate a test sub or kick
- Verify the timer increases correctly
- Test controls: pause, resume, and manually adjust time
- Confirm Kick alerts (if you have them) work in parallel to the timer
Tips for Subathon Day
Announce the system clearly
At the start, explain the rules: how much time each sub adds and how many kicks equal a minute. Pin it in the stream title or in a panel on your Kick profile.
Use Happy Hour strategically
TriBathon includes Happy Hour: a temporary multiplier that doubles (or more) the time each event adds. Activate it during lower-traffic hours to maintain timer momentum.
Set visual milestones
In addition to the timer, configure Milestones in TriBathon: achievements that unlock when the timer passes certain hours. For example, reaching 24 active timer hours unlocks a special challenge. This gives your audience concrete goals beyond simply keeping the timer alive.
